Bark mantis (Theopompus servillei)

Bark mantids generally have flattened bodies and mottled colouration which when pressed against a tree trunk or branch allows them to hide their shadow, and effectively camouflage within their microenvironment. Photographed in Cat Tien national park, Vietnam. Paul Bertner 2014.
